Keeping Busy In Montreal - First Exploits

Blogging everyday can be really hard (especially when I also keep a fremch diary!) so I'll bring you all up to date in this post here.

I've been walking. A lot. It's how I get everywhere in the effort of getting to know the city and its geography a little better. My favorite route is up 'Rue de Beurry' and through China Town to Rue Saint Catherine. I'll tell you 3 things I've noticed, that I have suprised me about Montreal:
1. There are so many hills! Every corner you take sends you up or down a slope. Reminds me of good old Sheffield.. *gazes off into the distance*
It'll make me very fit. Me and my mate Jordan (CCUSA coucillor like me but in America, whos staying in Montreal) went on a poorly timed run - heaving down with ran. Never been so thouroughly soaked to the skin. Apart from Canada day at camp.. Anyway we ran 10km AND collectively climbed 94 flights of stairs. Today I was knackered.
2. There are so many saints here. Every other streer or 'rue' is named after one! Theres catherine, paul, jaques, claude.. all good mates of mine, of course.
My favorite is Catherine because its such a long street that has tonnes of restaurants, bars, cafes, retail outlets and theatres and stuff its super fun. I'll have to get some pics of the multicoloured stairs for ya next to 'places des artes'
3. Street art. So many cool scences, designs and storys painted all over the place. Oh and statues.. really weird statues.

Highlight reel lets go:

L'escalier open mic night! A cool local bar that is a favorite of the hostel veterans. One my collegues even performed! Talented gal on the ukelele and singing. Alongside jazz bands, blues, rap, and a comedic sketch or two. Cute.

Cinko. Han - when you come we're going there! Pretty much every meal in $5 and they have all sorts. Again, and Jordon went to check it out as a reward for our run. I had Sweet Potato Putine which was the bomb and the Tofu viabata sandwich Jordan had was also good. Really nice vibes, again on a cool eatery street off of my girl St Catherine.

The run, the rain and reading. I've mentioned the run already. Pretty eventful. We went all the way over Jaques bridge to îsle st-helaine (how could i forget helen!) and checked out the Montreal Dome briefly. Pretty neat, bunch of stuff about ecology.
Which brings me to the books i bought in the name of self development in french! A novel and a exercise book (god damn bleached wafer-thin trees are expensive) theyre fun. Ones about socery and the other is about verbes so you can pick your own favorite..
My lunch.

Montreal where old meets new and people french! Some better than others.. byeee xx
