Blogging On The Metro

Whilst I commute to the first shift of my new coffee job and SecondCupCoffee Monkland! So excited 1. For coffee 2. For money! Haha

The last week has been really fun at the hostel. Im really settling into my new role at the reception - its like whoever you check in has a special relationship with you and will come to you for guidence and questions!

For example every night for the last 3 days I have had tourist question or directions to yet another cathedral. With a tour - in english. But she was lovely and had the best name ever! Rainbow! She even left a thank you card addressed to me and Antoine (the other evening receptionist) which was so sweet of her.

So many more lil stories for you too:

Powercut was fun. 10 mins of no power anywhere in the building and no answers for any of the questions they were asking. It randomly came back though - in time for the next check in luckily enough.

How about the time where a guy thought his body could survive a 6 hours driving from the US to Montreal, then hiking around Montreal, Mont Royal and the Vieux Port (all on 1 bottle of water and in 23+ sunshine) AND then going for drinks in downtown. All in 24hrs.

He got back to the hostel fine but almost passed out trying to climb the bunk into bed! He just rushes out of the room, sweating, uncoordinated and faint. Asking me what he should do and repeating 'I'm going to faint' like some possessed man.

So I go into full Camp Counsellor mode and ask about his day. Instantly sounds like sunstroke (no water and no hat? Silly boy. Everyday is a hat day.) So I get him sitting down. Drinking sips of water and a cool cloth for the back of his neck. After about an hour he seems much better and makes it to bed. Go Dr Zak!

And more recently I had a guest come in and immediately realise the his knapsack with all his important work documents and computer was still in the taxi he arrived here in. So look who - in french - calmed the bloke down and helped him call around the taxi services until it was returned. Woohoo lets go!

Love to my family xxx until next time!

**Update.. so never assume or it'll make an ASS out of yoU and ME. So guess whos 49 hours early to his first shift..! Better than getting it wrong the other way and getting fired before you even start..! So now I'm studying in the cafe. Nevermind. Lets make the most of it 😅 and have some more pics why don't cha!
